One of the oldest operating rollercoasters

Yes its true. The Rutschebane at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen is one of those very rare true scenic railways. The rollercoaster was opened in the year 1914 and is in full operation for more than 90 years now.

When you enter Tivoli and proceed to the area where the coaster is located, your breath is taken away by the looks of it. Its so beautiful! The Rutschebane is not a new coaster built in the style of the old ones, no its the real thing. And its in great shape.

Every coaster train has three cars. Between the first car and the car in the middle a brakesman is seated. He brakes the train during the ride and of course at the end.

The coaster is equipped with lightsignals along the full track, so that the brakesman can stop the train when a section is not free. However, this is normally not the case.

The coaster is one of the most unique coasters, that are still in operation, a historical landmark and of course a contemporary witness of the time when real coasting began.
