racing each other, duelling each other... And all in one coaster!

Stampida, Port Anvetura's wooden rollercoaster, is something completely different from a steel coaster, and therefore it is a great alternative attraction to the ultimate Dragon Khan steel looping coaster.

Stampida is Port Aventura's second world class coaster and it is truly world class. It is a wonderful racing coaster. And the clou is that you will not know which train is going to win the race at the end.

Sometimes I lost the race in the red one and sometimes I won it. Of course I also rode the blue side. To me the red side was a little more wild than the blue one, but this depends on your own taste of what you like.

On this coaster both tracks are great. The thing is, that they race each other at the beginning, but after the half of the track, they get separated and soon they are duelling each other. After the crossing part you get trough a tunnel and at the exit the train catches up with the other train, and they race each other to the final end.

It is a great wooden coaster, but the outstanding thing is the perfect race it does. Now I would like to compare it with "La tonnerre de Zeus", because it's also a CCI coaster. After being on all the old woodies of england this was a very welcome different coaster. It is much wilder and faster than the older woodies and it featured the typical thrill of a "CCI" rollercoaster. However, this coaster gives it's great impression through the fact that it is a wild wonderful racing coaster. But the breathtaking experience of a ride on "La tonnere de Zeus" it is not fully able to give. If I had to choose which one is the better coaster of them, I defenitly would say "La tonnerre de Zeus". But "La tonnerre de Zeus" doesn't feature the race effect, and that makes Stampida to a great attraction that is absolutely unique.

design and theme

The ride is situated in the old west area of Port Aventura and should match an american horse-car race. With the great wooden roughness it's a wonderful ride and with the great enthusiasm of the people screaming for winning the race it's a perfect cool experience. Just go and try to win your own race!
