They did it again! Bolliger & Mabillard once
again proved with this ride, that they are able to build an
ultimate world class rollercoaster.

the themeing of the coaster...
|
|
Like usual at Warner Brothers
and Sixflags parks, the wild attractions are orienting itself
on the DC-Comic characters like the Riddler, Lex Luthor, Batman,
Joker or Superman… At the Warnerbros park near Madrid you
will find two B&M coasters that are themed in the DC-Comics
style. “Batman - La Fuga” is a wonderful B&M inverted coaster
and “Superman” is Europe’s first B&M floorless coaster and
takes you on the steel ride of the all time comic hero Superman.
The coaster has a large entrance-building in the style of
a typical building from the Superman movies. Especially at
night, this building looks awesome! (Like the rest of the
park as well...). The coaster is painted in the colors red,
yellow, blue and white, which are the main colors of the unique
Superman dress and logo. So the ambiance is set right.
All the themeing in the park is at highest level. However
the coaster track is built away from the rest of the park
on a plain area with nothing but sand and stones. It is not
possible to get near the coaster (except, of course for the
entrance) as visitors are kept away from the coastertrack
completely. (The coaster was actually very hard to photograph).

seven inversions - all floorless
|
|
This time they went for the
full package and built an ultimate world class coaster with
seven inversions in the best B&M style. Additionally, this
coaster is a floorless coaster (Europes first), which means
that the cars don’t have a floor and the riders are seated
directly above the track. Especially in the first row this
effect adds excitement to the thrilling feeling you get.
Beside the "floorless" feature, the coaster highlights
especially because of its perfect inversions and layout. It
features a wonderful "zero-g-roll" and B&M's
famous "Immelmann" loop.
The "Immelmann" loop is a vertical inversion where
the train enters from the ground and drives up into the loop,
but after the top point of it, the train leaves the inversion
with a turn sideways or almost into the opposite direction.
The "Immelmann" loop is almost similar to the B&M
"Dive-loop", but on this inversion, the train drives
through it from the opposite direction, and leaves it near
the ground.

B&M quality!
|
|
I’m always fascinated about
B&M's rollercoasters and Superman is no exception. It’s not
only the massive construction, the comfortable cars and the
wild inversions, but also the elegant looks and the smoothness
as well as the perfect layout of the track. B&M manages
always to build and design a wonderful ride experience and
that's what Superman is... Simply a perfect rollercoaster.
